Joy and Peace Walked Beside of Me

Weekends have been surprisingly hard lately.
The pressure of free time. The weight of choice.
But this weekend was different.
It was full of family. Celebration. Different.
All three kids together—young adults now.
The sibling spats are the same.
The comfort of togetherness, unchanged.
Mini-golf. Seafood boils. Birthday crowns.
Blueberry picking. Sunflower farms.
Dinners out. Uncomfortable car rides.
Togetherness in a way we haven’t had since my two girls moved away.
And somewhere in the middle of all that,
the weight, the worry, the heartbreak—they slipped away.
Peace and Joy walked beside me.
Not in a loud, sweeping way—but in a steady, undeniable presence.
Reminding me that life is more than grief and hurt.
I am almost through the void.
I can see the other side.
